Operated by the Wildlife Division of the Department of Tourism and Culture, Salmonier Nature Park officially opened July 17, 1978. Within a 1214 hectare wilderness reserve area, the division has established an enclosed 40 hectare exhibit area where, in addition to enjoying the details of the natural environment, visitors can view over a dozen species of animals and birds indigenous to Newfoundland and Labrador.

Visitors will have the opportunity to appreciate at close range flora and fauna which they might otherwise never encounter. A picnic area is available. It is an excellent family outing of fun and discovery. Trained education staff provide related programs such as movies, puppet shows and interpretive theater presentations relating to the natural history of the Province. Sections of the parks trails have been levelled to provide better access for strollers and disabled individuals.
